Charles Derek Jeffcoat, Bamberg, SC

It is great sadness that the family of Mr. Charles Derek Jeffcoat announces his passing after an extended courageous battle with cancer, on Wednesday, October 25, 2017, at the age of 60.  

Funeral services for Mr. Jeffcoat will be held 1:00 pm, Friday, October 27, 2017 at the Open Door Baptist Church, 6933 Main Highway, Bamberg with the Rev. Brian Gray officiating. Burial will follow at South End Cemetery, Bamberg, SC. The family will receive friends Thursday, October 26, 2017 from 5:00 pm -8:00 pm at Cooner Funeral Home, LLC, 287 McGee Street Bamberg, South Carolina.

Derek began his career as a paramedic in Florence County and then at Savannah River Site. He most recently served his community as a 911 dispatch operator for Bamberg County. He was a deacon and elder at Open Door Baptist Church. His passions were his family, his grandchildren, his community, his love for Bamberg Ehrhardt Red Raiders serving as the Friday night football commentator for over a decade, and the South Carolina Gamecocks. His dedication to Jesus was a great influence and example for everyone around him.

Derek will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 39 years Patti Pait Jeffcoat, his children Rich (Taylor) and Jon-Derek (Alex) Jeffcoat, will also be fondly remembered by his six grandchildren Brady, Alexis, Raelynn, Jon Sawyer, Mary Piper, and Bennett, one sister Debra Jeffcoat of Bamberg, one brother Derwin (Natalie) Jeffcoat, nieces and nephew Clint (Hollie) Collins, and family, Patrick (Ashley) Collins and family, Michelle and Taylor Collins and Bryce, Dayton, and Deanna Jeffcoat. He was also survived by his father in law Vernon Pait and brother in law Rick Pait. He was predeceased in death by his parents Reverend Charles and Betty Jeffcoat.
