Doris Steedly Felder, Bamberg, SC
Mrs. Doris Mareen Steedly Felder, 88, of Bamberg, SC, passed away Thursday, December 20, 2018.
She was married to the late Henry Nathaniel Felder, a WWII veteran, for more than 50 years. He predeceased her in 2005.
Graveside services for Mrs. Felder will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, December 23, 2018 at South End Cemetery on South Carlisle Street Bamberg, SC 29003 with Rev. David Caughman officiating. The family will receive friends after the service at Trinity United Methodist Church fellowship hall, 11761 Heritage Highway Bamberg, SC 29003.
Mrs. Felder was born in Bamberg, SC, on Dec. 28, 1929, to the late Maggie Mae Hutto Steedly, a seamstress and homemaker, and the late Ruby Jacob Steedly, a postal worker and a WWI veteran.
She is survived by her daughter Lynn Felder (David) Rodwell of Winston-Salem, NC, and two sons, John (Diane) Felder of Columbia and Thomas Jacob Felder of Winston-Salem; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by a brother, John Riley (Loretta) Steedly of Lexington, SC, and predeceased by a sister, Margaret Ackerman, of Walterboro.
Mrs. Felder loved to paint, garden and travel. She and Mr. Felder traveled extensively in the U.S. and Europe. Mrs. Felder was a prolific painter and crafter and made many lap quilts for the nursing home at Bamberg Memorial Hospital.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Mrs. Felder’s name to Trinity Memorial Church P.O. Box 335 Bamberg, SC 29003.
