Obituary

On August 17, 2024, Mrs. Bonnie Thomas Kearse died peacefully in her sleep and went to be with the Lord.

Bonnie Kearse was born in Cleveland, Georgia on March 12, 1944 to Walter Earl Thomas and Willie York Thomas and was the youngest of their three children.  To her closest family members, Bonnie was known as "Bonnie Sue" and grew up as a country girl in the mountains of Northern Georgia. Bonnie did well in high school and attended Piedmont College where she met and married Thomas Graham Kearse in 1965. Bonnie and Graham enjoyed a long and happy marriage in South Carolina until his untimely death in 2001.

Bonnie is the mother of two daughters, Susan Kearse Connor and Graham Kearse Warden, the grandmother of five grandchildren:  Peyton, Brenna, and Will Connor and Smith and Hampton Warden. Through her granddaughter, Peyton, she became the proud great-grandmother of William and John-Paul Harmon.

Bonnie lived in St. George, South Carolina for most of her adult life and was best known in the community for the years she worked as the Librarian at Dorchester Academy where her daughters were students. Bonnie's husband Graham was also a teacher and football coach at DA. The Kearse family loved tailgating at Clemson Football games, where Bonnie's daughters eventually graduated.  Bonnie loved the students at DA and brought joy to all at school with her contagious smile.

Bonnie Kearse enjoyed spending time with her family and particularly grandchildren, whom she spoke with on the phone all the time.  She was a wonderful mother and grandmother and great-grandmother and a follower of Jesus Christ.

Bonnie spent her last 7 years of life at the Legacy in Orangeburg, SC enjoying all her resident friends while continuing to offer advice by phone to family members as far away as Ireland.

The family will be having a small graveside service at 11:00 Am Saturday August 24,2024 at Mizpah cemetery in  Olar, South Carolina.  Friends and family are all welcome to attend to pay respects.

Memorials may be made to the National Pancreas Foundation P. O. Box 750046, Atlanta, GA 30374-7846.
