Eugenia C. Hiers, 95, of Bamberg, SC passed away on October 28, 2023. Her funeral will be held Thursday, November 2, 2023 at 11:00AM at Trinity United Methodist Church in Bamberg, Sc. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. A private burial will follow the service.

Eugenia was born on October 15, 1928 in Lodge, sc. She was the daughter of A. Buyck and Gertrude Ulmer Crosby. She graduated from Columbia College with a B.A. Degree in Chemistry and a Masters Degree in Guidance and Counseling from Western Carolina University. She was the head of the Science Department at Ware Shoals High School from 1949 - 1951 and she taught Chemistry, Biology and Physics from 1951-1978 and was a full time Guidance Counselor from 1978-1985 at Bamberg Ehrhardt High School. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and a member of the United Methodist Women. She was a member of SetA, NEA, Bamberg Lioness Club, the Bamberg County American Legion Auxiliary Unit #39, and a former member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society. It has been said that she taught almost everyone in Bamberg at one time or another.

She is survived by her daughters Rosemary Hiers Chapman and Barbara Anne Hiers, granddaughter Leah Chapman Goss (Steve) and great-grandchildren Breanna Karin Goss and James Monroe Goss. She was predeceased in death by her husband B. Monroe Hiers and sisters Mary L. Crosby and Isobel Lancaster.
