Henry Granite (Sonny) Beard, Jr. Bamberg, SC

Mr. Henry Granite (Sonny) Beard, Jr. 80 of Bamberg, SC passed away Sunday, June 10, 2018 after a brief illness.

Funeral services for Mr. Beard will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, June 14, 2018 at Bamberg First Baptist Church 11823 Heritage Highway Bamberg, SC 29003 with Rev. Charlie Lucas and Rev. Eileen Gunnells. officiating. Burial will follow at South End Cemetery.

He was born in Bamberg, SC on February 5, 1938 to the late Henry Granite Beard and the late Rossie Gray Beard. He was married to the love of his life Mrs. Nancy Taylor Beard for 54 years.

He was a devoted husband, an avid Gamecock fan and loved the Braves. He loved his country and was instrumental in the Bamberg Flag Project. Sonny was known for his humor, friendliness, love of life and his big heart. His wife, children and grandchildren were his world. Sonny loved everyone and was loved by all. His mantra was, "Be blessed and always be a blessing to someone else" and he lived by this every day of his life.

She is survived by one son Rob (Wendy) Beard, two daughters Sandy (Michael) Parnell, Bridgett (Tim) DuFrense, 5 grandchildren Terry Beard, Matt Beard, Wyatt Whitlock, Jared Beard, Jonah Beard, two sisters Virginia Kemp, Rosilyn (John) Earley and a number of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one sister Johnnie Ann Smoak.
