John Percy "JP" Robinson Jr.

John Percy “JP” Robinson Jr., 92, of Bamberg, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 6, 2026.

Born December 16, 1933, in Bamberg, South Carolina, JP was the son of the late Lena Hall Robinson and John Percy Robinson Sr. He was the beloved husband of the late and beautiful Betty Jean Way Robinson.

JP attended Bamberg High School before enlisting in the United States Army. Following his honorable discharge, he returned home to work on the family farm with his father. Throughout his life, he held several occupations, including delivering milk to homes for Coburg Dairy and serving as Superintendent of the Water Works Department in Denmark, South Carolina.

He was a faithful, lifetime member of Ghents Branch Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and sang in the choir. His faith, love of family, and service to others were important parts of his life.

JP enjoyed camping with his family and playing and singing bluegrass music with friends. He loved farming, especially planting watermelons, and enjoyed spending time at the Farmers Market. He also spent many years restoring and showing antique tractors and cars, a hobby that brought him great joy.

He is survived by his son, Randy Robinson (Ronika); daughter, Sheila Albrecht (Ben); granddaughters, Kelsey Sandifer (Randon), Ansley Albrecht, and Kacie Albrecht; grandson, Mitchell Robinson (Ally); great-grandchildren, McCoy Sandifer, Emersyn Sandifer, McKenna Sandifer, and Avery Robinson; sister-in-law, Jimmie Lee Hartzog; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and beloved wife, Betty Jean, JP was predeceased by his granddaughter, Hailey Robinson, and his sister, Frances R. Jones.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at Cooner-Smith Funeral Home, 287 McGee St., Bamberg, SC 29003.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 11, 2026, at Ghents Branch Baptist Church, 1974 Ghents Branch Road, Denmark, SC 29042. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the home of Randy and Ronika Robinson.
