Mrs. Judith Gatch Free, "Judy", 78, of Bamberg, SC, died May 15, 2024. Judy was born in Hampton County and was the daughter of the late James Allen and Rudene Taylor Gatch. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Bamberg, SC, where she was active for many years. Judy taught seventh grade English at Richard Carroll Middle School for the majority of her teaching career. She dearly loved her family, her friends, and her Lord.

Judy is survived by her husband, William Radcliffe (Rad) Free, Jr.;  daughter Taylor Foy (Darren) of Columbia, SC and son, Cliff Free (Lori) of Lawrenceville, GA.; sisters, Jane Tharpe of Wales Branch, SC and Jill Jones (Al) of Mount Pleasant, SC;  grandchildren, Allen Foy (Kaitlyn), Sara Foy, Natalie Free, Alyssa Free, and Bennett Free;  great-granddaughter Crawford Foy; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the caregivers at Wildewood Downs Memory and Skilled Nursing Center and Amedisys Hospice for their loving care of Judy.

A service will be held Saturday, May 18,2024 at 3:00 pm at Trinity United Methodist Church in Bamberg. A  visitation in the Fellowship Hall will follow

Memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, the Mary Ann Morris Animal Shelter, or the Alzheimer's Association.
