Mary Helen Smith, 83, of Orangeburg, SC passed away peacefully on February 3, 2025. Helen was born in Charleston, SC and raised in Bamberg, SC to the late Miles Carter and Mary Lee Kirkland of Bamberg, SC. She enjoyed cross-stitching and reminiscing about the good old days. She didn't need a reason to get dressed up for a day on the town to her beloved Wal-Mart where she worked for 6 years. She loved traveling, the Gamecocks, Nascar and rummaging through cookbooks. She would never turn down a day watching her favorite TV show Yellowstone or listening to Elvis. She will be remembered for never meeting a stranger, and her willingness to lend a helping hand. But most of all for her heart of gold.

Helen is survived by her children, Teresa Hinzman of Orangeburg, SC; Rose Annette Zimmerman of Orangeburg, SC; Dorothy (Troy) Collins of Pelion, SC. 10 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Walter Smith, daughter Sharon Beckett, grand-daughter Samantha Beckett, and sister Bobbie Lee Moore.

A small memorial service will be held at Cooner Funeral Home Friday, February 7, 2025, at 2 o'clock pm.
