Mattie E. Johnson Orangeburg, SC

Mrs. Mattie E. Johnson, 86 died Saturday, November 10, 2018 after an extended illness.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 17, 2018, at 11:00 am at Bethany Baptist Church, 125 Bethany Drive, Orangeburg SC with the Pastor Jim Broad, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the church social hall.

She was born October 21, 1932 to the late Leon Flake and the late Martha Jane Strawn Flake.

Mattie was a retired supervisor. She loved to travel, dance, sew, read books and play cards.  All the neighborhood kids loved to hang out at her house because she taught them how to play sports and they considered her their second mom.

She is survived by her children Marion Darrell Johnson (Louise), Terry Denise Cupp, Anthony Russell Johnson, and Stephen Tracy Johnson. Seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Robert Edward Johnson, and two brothers and two sisters and son in law, Ralph Benjamin Cupp.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethany Baptist Church, 125 Bethany Drive, Orangeburg SC 29115.
