Miriam Ponds Kinard, 98, passed away on July 1st,2024, at her home in Bamberg, S. C.

She was the daughter of the late Henry Benjamin and Viola Breland Ponds. She was born September 28, 1925 in Ashton, S. C.

She was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Bamberg since 1948. She served as a Sunday School teacher as well as serving on many of the boards of the church. She also was chosen as woman of the year at the church and was a member of the Bertha Herndon Circle. She was an avid supporter of the high school band and anything musical in addition to being an enthusiastic gardener.

Mrs. Kinard graduated from Winthrop College with a B. S. Degree in Home Economics. She taught school for many years at Bamberg Elementary and at Andrew Jackson Academy.

Mrs. Kinard was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Dr. Harold Kinard, and a son, Hal Kinard, two sisters and a brother.

Survivors include two daughters: Kathryn Cataldo of Fort Mill, SC, and Kaye (Jeff)Carson of Branchville, SC, one sister: "Ginger" Anne (Ronnie)Mackenzie of Goose Creek, SC, one brother: Joe J. (Miriam) Ponds of Ashton, SC, three grandchildren: Dr. Jamey (Stephanie)Mitchell of Bamberg, SC, Allison (Chris)Sexton, of Phoenix, AZ, Meredith (Garrett)Yocum of Lake Wylie, SC, and six great grandchildren: Cade Mitchell, Anabel Massey, Sadie Sexton, Austin Yocum, Delaney Yocum and Emerson Yocum.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at Trinity United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kevin Dalton and Dr. Webb Belangia officiating.  Interment will follow at the Bamberg Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 1pm until 2:00 PM in the fellowship hall of Trinity United Methodist Church on July 3,2024.
