Mr. Robert A. Ayer, 91, of Bamberg, passed away on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at his home.  Mr. Ayer was born in Ehrhardt, the son of the late Charlie and Myrtle Ayer.  He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Doris Russell Ayer.

Mr. Ayer had a passion for working with his hands and was a very skillful carpenter until his retirement. He enjoyed the outdoors, visiting with friends, savoring good food, and spending time with his grands as well as great-grands.

Survivors include daughters Catherine Ayer (Leroy) Griffin, Cindy Ayer, and Felicia (Kurt) Ayer, all of Bamberg; granddaughters Brittany Erin Ayer, Hailey (Brad) Antley, Kylee Ayer Hutto, and Cynthia Houston Griffin; great-grandchildren, Reid Ellison Antley, Lachlan Kambridge Hutto, and Myers Bradshaw Antley; and special friends, Jeff (Betty) Bender, Rhonda (Henry) Rivers, and Alex Campbell.  He was predeceased by 10 siblings and survived by 2 sisters, Carolyn Jennings and Sara Rauth.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 16, at Spring Branch Baptist Church, 833 Deacon Road, Bamberg.  Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to the service.  The Rev. Troy Peterson will be officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Rusty Rhoad, Marvin Zeigler, Tony Gunnells, Robert Wrightenberry, Brian Darnell, and Rock Bunch will be pall barriers.
