Betty Jo George Obituary

Betty Jo Rhoad “BeBe” George, 87, died Saturday, December 31,2022, wife of the late James M George.  She was a daughter of the late Herbert Walter Rhoad and Annie Lee Moorer Rhoad.

Mrs. George was retired from Edisto Electric and was a member of Zion Methodist Church.  After her retirement she volunteered for the Ehrhardt Elementary, Barnwell Primary and Andrew Jackson Academy Schools and was known by all as” Bebe”. “ Bebe” touched the lives of many students with great love and patience.  In addition to her volunteer enjoyed work she enjoyed farming with her husband and gardening. Mrs. George had unconditional love for her grandchildren and traveling with her grandchildren in the RV.  She was also a member of Iptay and had a passion for Clemson football. 

Mrs. George is survived by her son Herbert Michael George (Jennifer) and a daughter Diana G. Saitz (Nick); grandchildren, James George  (Ansley), Michael George, Jack George, Gerhard Varn IV and Martin Varn (Torrie), Elizabeth Nichol Saitz, Johnathan Tyler Saitz, one great grandchild; Riverly Rose Varn. Additional survivors are a sister, Benny Lynn Nicholson and her special furry friend Chewy.   She was preceded in death by a sister, Jackie Ann Rhoad.

Funeral Services will be 3:00 PM Thursday, January 5, 2023 at Zion Methodist Church with Pastor George Moore officiating.  Interment will follow in the Zion Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until time for the Service at Zion Methodist Church.

The family will like to offer a special thanks to the care givers, Kerri King, Bralyn Pond, Ivanna Stoler, Darlene Dien and a special thanks to Edisto Hospice Group, Missy Minus, Kendal Smith, Makayla Clamp and Gail Snell.

Memorials may be made to the Zion Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, C/O Mike George 4976 Farrells Rd, Branchville, SC 29432
