Ernest Eugene Brickle

Ernest Eugene (Ernie) Brickle, Jr. , 71, passed away Monday, February 6, 2023.

Ernie was born September 7, 1951 in Orangeburg, SC and grew up in Bamberg, SC. and resided in Spartanburg for over 50 years. He was the son of the late Ernest Eugene Brickle and Elberta Smoak Brickle.

He was a graduate of Bamberg High School. He attended Spartanburg Methodist College with an Associate of Arts Degree.  He continued his education at Limestone College in Gaffney, SC with a BA degree in Business and Economics/Accounting.

Ernie retired from Polydeck Corporation in 2017 and was an active member of New Spring Church in Spartanburg.  He is survived by his first cousins Ann Brickle McMillen (Tom) of Ringgold, GA and Bob Smoak of Bamberg, Sharon Johnson of Holly Springs,  GA, Sonny and Jerry McDaniel and Barbara Jo McFadden of Columbia SC and other relatives.  Ernie enjoyed Ann and Tom's children, Jessica McMillen (Jacob) Parker of Ringgold, GA and Casey McMillan of Newberry, SC as well as their grandchildren, Anna Grace and Mary Chandler Parker who nick named him "Great" ! He loved spending time with family and friends. 

Ernie attended many gatherings as a member of the Always Patsy Cline Fan Club Organization and made long lasting friendships.  The Family is appreciative of his many close friends in Spartanburg who checked on him frequently and assisted him when needed.

A service is planned at Cooner Funeral Home in Bamberg for Saturday, February 11, 2023.  Visitation will be at 1:00 pm at the funeral home with the service at 2:00 pm.  Graveside will follow at South End Cemetery.  A Celebration of Life service will be planned in Spartanburg at a later date.
