Florence Livingston Tomlinson

Florence Livingston Dodd Tomlinson passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at age 85 on September 2, 2022.  Born in Orangeburg, Florence moved to Bamberg at age 5. After graduating from Columbia College, Florence began her teaching career in Virginia and Florida before returning to Bamberg to raise her family and teach for over 25 years.

Florence’s greatest joy was spending time with her family. She was so proud of her four children and ten grandchildren.  She loved to travel and never missed a family event.

She also loved Bamberg and spending time with her friends, especially her weekly Bridge and card games.  Her attitude was always positive and supportive.  She had a great sense of humor and rarely spoke an ill word or complained.  She was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church and volunteered at the Bamberg Nursing Home and Meals on Wheels.

Florence was preceded in death by her husband, Mike.   She is survived by her four children, Louisa Dow (Scott), Arthur Dodd (Kristi), Julie Richey (Jack), and Andrew Dodd (Stacey), and ten grandchildren: Greg, Brian, and Julia Dow; Charlie, John Robert, and Ruthie Dodd; Ben and Amy Richey, and Ella Drew and Livingston Dodd as well as her loyal dog, Rusty.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 am Wednesday, September 7, 2022 at the Trinity United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kevin Dalton officiating. Interment will follow at the South End Cemetery

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Trinity United Methodist Church.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 6 from 5:00-7:00 pm at Cooner Funeral Home, 287 McGee Street in Bamberg.
