Obituary

Mamie Cooke Hewitt, 93 died Wednesday May 10, 2023 after a period of declining health.  She was the wife of the late Ed Cooke.  She was a daughter of the late Mozell and Bill Thomasson.

Mamie was a member of the Bethel Church in Olar.  She was a loving mother, grandmother and enjoyed traveling to the mountains and to Edisto Beach.  She was retired from the Bamberg IGA after many years.

She is survived by her daughter, Elaine Cooke, a son Tom "Buba" Cooke.  Additional survivors are her grandchildren, Chris Butler (Chrystal) and Dana Hughes (Mike), five  great grand children; Dalton Hughes, Aubree Butler Makayla Butler, Carly Butler, Samantha Hughes, and two great great grandchildren, Hannah Hughes and Bryer Strickland, a special cousin, Lynn Murray and her furry friend Bambam.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Dana Cooke.

Graveside Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Friday, May 12, 2023 at the Bamberg Memory Gardens with Pastor Billy Poovey officiating.  The family will receive friends after the service.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at the Carlyle Senior Care Center in Blackville.
